Crystal lay in bed with her eyes closed wishing the the horrors of the past ten months hadn't happened. Wishing that Jamie was still there, still part of her life and Brad's. But as she opened her eyes, Crystal knew it they were true, and she was in France with her five year old son, trying to forget her old life. Glancing at the bedside clock, Crystal noticed it read 7:30 am. She knew Brad would be waking up any minute and coming into her room. Stretching her arms above her head, Crystal sighed quietly. As if on cue, Crystal could hear the soft sound of her son's footsteps as he made her way out of his bedroom and down the hall to her room. Hearing the sound of her door being pushed open, Crystal opened her eyes and smiled.
"Mommy," Brad said walking over to his mothers bed and crawling up on top of it. Pulling the blankets down, Brad crawled under the covers and lay down close next to him mom. Looking up, he noticed his mom's smile, and he smiled. Brad couldn't help but notice his mommy didn't smile much since they had moved and he was happy to see she was smiling. Brad giggled as his mommy poked him in the sides, then gave him and big hug and kissed the top of his head.
"Hey Monkey," Crystal said with a small smile as she looked down at her little boy. "How are you this morning?" As Brad smiled and said he was good, Crystal could help but smile. He was so innocent, and unaware of everything, it was so cute. Turning on her side, Crystal flipped on the television, and changed the channel to the cartoon channel. Once she had done that, she place the remote back on the bedside table. Quickly tidying her side of the bed, Crystal siled as she noticed that Brad was focused on the television. He still looked a bit tired, so she decided to leave him there while she took a shower and got dressed.
Making her way down the hall, Crystal walked into the bathroom and turned on the water in the shower. Closing the door softly behind her, Crystal locked it. Thirty minutes later, Crystal emerged from the bathroom, washed, and dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a white halter top with her bathing suit on underneath. It was supposed to be warm that day, and Crystal knew she would end up outside in the pool with Brad, or playing some sort of game. So she had decided to dress casually. Crystal's long red hair was still damp, but it was up in an elastic with pieces falling out to frame her face.
Walking back into her bedroom, Crystal noticed that Brad was now sitting up and laughing at the cartoons on the television. "C'mon you," Crystal said pushing the power button on the Television and walking over to the bed. By the time she reached the side of the bed, Brad had buried himself under a pile of blankets and pillows. Crystal laughed shaking her head slightly at his antics. Sitting on the side of the bed, Crystal started to poke Brad in the side causing him to shriek and giggle as she tickled him.
"Mommy noooo," Brad said trying to escape his mom's grip. Twisting and turning, Brad giggled as his mommy continued to tickled him. Having managed to get himself twisted up in the blanket's, Brad was having a hard time finding his way out. He could hear his mommy laughing, then he felt her stop. Pushing the blankets away, it took Brad another minute or so before he found his way out of the blankets. Still giggling, he twisted and turned s his mommy pulled his leg lightly so he would come out of bed. Brad laughed as his feet his the ground, then he took off running to his room.
Crystal smiled as she watched Brad run off to his room. Standing up she quickly made her bed and opened the window, then moved into Brad's room. There she saw him sitting on the floor playing with a toy car. Rolling her eyes, Crystal quickly made Brad's bed and opened his bedroom window then moved to his closet. Opening the doors, Crystal took out a pair of beige cargo shorts and a blue t-shirt. Both were a bit big on Brad but they would work for a day playing outside. Kneeling down beside Brad, Crystal helped him get dressed, and played cars with him for a couple of minutes. Once she was done, Crystal stood up, smiling as Brad did the same thing. Walking down the hall with Brad in front of her, Crystal pushed him lightly into the Bathroom. "Don't forget to wash your face," Crystal reminded Brad before she continued on to the kitchen.
Reaching the kitchen, Crystal opened a few windows, the moved to the fridge. She had decided on making pancakes for breakfast as they were easy, and one of Brad's favotie... Not to mention on of her favorites as well. As she started to put the batter into the skillet and watch as the pancakes started to bubble, Crystal heard Brad walk into the kitchen, then sit down at the table. He had grabbed one of his toy cars again and was playing with it on the table. Smiling, Crystal grabbed two plates and set the table as the pancakes were almost done.
As Crystal stood by the sink cleaning up after breakfast, she could see Brad playing with his toys in the living room. Smiling, Crystal quietly hummed to herself. She was glad she had Brad in her life to keep herself busy all day. As she finished washing the table and counter and the dishes had all been cleaned, Crystal looked up. "So Brad what do you want to do today?" Crystal asked from the kitchen. She could hear Brad thinking out loud. But before he answer, Crystal heard the door. Frowning she put the washcloth she held in her hands back in the sink and made her way over to the door. Once there, she looked through the screen door smiling. "Hey," Crystal said with a smile as she felt Brad come running up behind her. Opening the door, Crystal waited for the person to say something. Placing a hand on Brad's shoulder, Crystal waited for him to try and run out the door like he always did.
